Planning what to bring or cook for a family holiday dinner may come with many anxieties and pressures, especially if you have critical family members. The article interviews overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or those who sacrifice their time with loved ones to bring more income to their families. As Christmas has a special place in the hearts of all Filipinos, OFWs’ nostalgia is at its peak during this holiday when they cannot be home with family. OFWs in the article talk about their homesickness and how they cope at Christmas time.

500 Words Essay on Holiday With My Family

The essence of family holidays.

The concept of family holidays is steeped in cherished traditions, shared experiences, and the forging of enduring bonds. These occasions serve as a respite from the rigors of daily life and academic pressures, offering an opportunity for family members to reconnect, rejuvenate, and create lasting memories.

The Importance of Quality Time

In the fast-paced world we live in, it is easy to become entangled in our individual pursuits, often at the expense of quality family time. Holidays with family offer a unique opportunity to break from this routine. They provide a platform for parents and children to interact on a deeper level, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening their bond. Moreover, these shared experiences often serve as a catalyst for personal growth and development, particularly for younger family members.

Creating Lasting Memories

Family holidays are a treasure trove of unforgettable moments. Whether it’s a shared laugh over a campfire, the collective awe of a breathtaking sunset, or the thrill of a new adventure, these experiences etch themselves into our memory. They become stories to be recounted at family gatherings, passed down through generations, and serve as a reminder of the love and camarity that binds a family together.

Exploring New Horizons

Traveling together as a family offers a unique opportunity to explore new cultures, landscapes, and cuisines. These shared discoveries not only broaden our collective horizons but also instill a sense of appreciation for diversity and the world at large. Moreover, navigating unfamiliar environments together fosters teamwork and resilience, invaluable life skills that transcend the holiday experience.

Challenges and Growth

While family holidays are generally perceived as fun-filled and relaxing, they can also present challenges. Differences in interests, age-related needs, or simply the stress of travel can sometimes lead to friction. However, these challenges should not be viewed negatively. Instead, they present opportunities for growth. Negotiating these hurdles collectively can enhance communication skills, promote empathy, and build resilience, equipping family members with the tools to navigate more significant life challenges.

In conclusion, holidays with family are more than just a break from routine or a chance to explore new places. They are a crucible for personal growth, a platform for strengthening familial bonds, and a source of cherished memories. As we navigate the complexities of life and academia, these shared experiences serve as a gentle reminder of the importance of family, love, and togetherness.

The Importance of Family Time During the Holidays

Spending-Time-With-Family-in-the-Holidays

While holidays and family gatherings are intended to be a fun and special time, sometimes they can unfortunately be a stressful experience. Perhaps now is the time to change things up and try something new to make this holiday season the best one yet. For those who have lost a loved one, the holiday time can be an especially tough time, but that’s exactly why it’s more important than ever to support each other and be together. Here are some useful tips to make spending time with family something you’ll surely look forward to.

Why Spending Time with Family is Important

It’s easy to convince yourself that you should work more and more. But if you’ve ever thought to yourself that working and earning money is more valuable than spending time with family, you are very mistaken. Spending time with family is the most precious thing in the world, and here’s why.

Bonding time.

What family means has shifted over the years, but one thing that will always remain is the importance of family.

Family time is the time when your children learn how to deal with all kinds of life situations, and where they learn innumerable lessons. Without this crucial time, your children can be left very lost. Family time is something that needs to be made and blocked into your schedules, as busy as they may be.

Why is Family Time Important?

If you are still doubting the importance of family time, here are some valuable points to consider.

1. Bonding with Family

Everyone needs to have a sense of belonging, feeling as though they have a safe place that they can trust. Children often join gangs to feel as though they are part of something similar to a family. By having a strong family bond, it’s likely to prevent them from getting involved in dangerous activities and looking for that connection elsewhere.

2. Talk and Listen

We also all need a place where we can talk openly and share our feelings , and that’s what a family is for. Talking to your kids or younger siblings can help prevent them from getting involved in dangerous activities and succumbing to peer pressure.

3. Teaching Your Kids Valuable Lessons

As a parent or older sibling, it’s your responsibility to teach your children and family right from wrong. And if they don’t learn this at home, they will learn it somewhere else, perhaps not in the way you would have liked them to.

4. Show Affection

Affection is shown differently by everyone. For some it means holding hands, others giving hugs, and sometimes it just means doing a nice gesture. Spending time with family gives everyone the chance to express their affection.

In fact, it’s been found that teenagers who are shown affection are more likely to do better in school compared to those that don’t receive this type of family attention.

5. Family Traditions

Family values come from spending time with family. Children copy what they see at home. If a parent is not around, then that’s exactly what they will learn to do when they have their own children. Spending time with family as much as possible can help develop positive family values .

6. Accept Each Other

Family time is crucial in order to learn how to accept each other’s differences, and appreciate each family member for their unique qualities.

7. Share Chores

Sharing chores between family members is a way for children to learn to fend for themselves in a healthy, safe way. It establishes the fact that you are a family, and that you share a common goal that you need to work together in order to reach.

8. Connect with Your Children

It’s been found that when parents get involved in their children’s studies, it helps them get better grades, and increases their chances of graduating , as well as their chances to attend higher education . Even a sibling or cousin helping if the parent isn’t around can also be highly beneficial.

It’s also been found that parental involvement encourages children to have more positive attitudes towards learning. It can be as simple as reading a bedtime story, checking homework or even asking your child how their day was.

9. Building Self-Esteem

Spending time with family helps children gain a greater sense of self-worth. Spending time with family doesn’t have to be costly, what’s most important is just being together.

10. Builds Positive Behaviors

Those who spend more time with their families are found to be less likely to engage in dangerous activities. Those who eat meals with their families tend to have better diets compared to those that don’t, and are also less likely to consume tobacco and alcohol.

11. Encourages Communication

Spending time with family fosters a healthy environment allowing for open communication. Your children need a place where they can feel safe and comfortable to talk about everything.

12. Kids Become Good Friends

Children learn from what they see, and if they are shown the importance of family time, then they are likely to take this example to others parts of their lives. Spending family time together can help make your child a better friend .

13. Create Memories

Spending time with family is a chance to build memories together, and to share their everyday ups and downs.

14. Family Bonding is Healthy

Being around your family members tends to encourage you to eat more nutritious meals, and overall take on a healthy lifestyle since you are sharing home-cooked meals together, rather than eating processed and prepared foods outside.

15. Connecting With Family Reduces Stress

Having the opportunity to express your feelings to your family can help reduce stress and find solutions to your problems.

My last holiday was a five-day trip to Prague in the Czech Republic. I know Prague well because I lived there when I was at university, more than ten years ago.

Instead of staying in a hotel, I stayed with one of my old friends. It was so much fun, and a little bit like my old life. I wanted to do all the same things I did in my university days, so I visited the university. It has changed a lot and looks more modern. I also went to the supermarket near my old house. I loved seeing all the different foods. I was really happy to find my favourite cheese and chocolate biscuits but they were a bit more expensive than I remember!

We did some touristy things too. We walked up beautiful Petrin Hill and around the castle. The views of the city are amazing up there. We walked across the historic Charles Bridge. My friend's flat is very near the TV Tower so we saw the famous baby statues climbing up it. Those things haven't changed, of course.

My last holiday was a two-day trip to Baguio in the Philippines. I had lived there before for five months. So I decided to go back for just a visit on my holiday. Unfortunately, there was heavily raining as we got off the bus. Otherwise, getting a taxi was super hard, and we were waiting for around an hour. Fortunately, I got home safely and I made so much fun with my friends. I visited the old places that I often did because it made me happy and refresh. In conclusion, I had so much fun spending my last holiday in Baguio.

I remember last year when I went with friend to the beach in summer. My Lastsummer holidays was 2days and 3 nights trip to Ngwe Saung Beach in Myanamr . Ngwe Saung, is a beach resort located 48 km west of Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar. In 2014, the town of Ngwesaung had 10,732 people. The beach is 5hours drive with no traffic away from the principal city of Yangon. Ngwe Saung is well know for An unspoilt 15 kilometres stretch of silvery sand and modern amenities have made Ngwe Saung a popular destination for less budget conscious tourists from Lower Myanmar. I booked for our stay at a hotel near the beach, name was "Grand Paradise Hotel ". My friend and i prepared everything we needed on our trip as light food and soft drinks to have on the way to the hotel. And also we prepared necessary clothing for the sea, sun cream and some essential medicines. After 5hours of driving we arrived the hotel at 12PM afternoon and went to our rooms to rest change clothes and take all what we need to go to the beach. This Hotel is near the beach, all services was good and room are cleaned, wide and nice. We put our bags on the table and went to swim in the sea and then went out for lunch that my friend ordered from a fish restaurant . The Crab ,Lobster and fish was fresh and tasty and we enjoyed our meal very much. After lunch we sat under the canopy enjoying the sea view, refreshing breaths ,listening to music and playing fun games. OH really nice Ngwe Saung beach Myanamr.

My last holiday was far away in time in different reasons. We were at black sea coast on September so there where not so much other people. We was drinking a wine that was cheap there and going some excursions

My last holiday. Last summer, in particular on the last weekend of June, I decided to visit Granada, an amazing city in Spain. I visited Granada for the second time with my family, my wife, and two daughters. I was so happy because I visited Granada sights, especially Alhambra Palace, and Civilization Museum. We arrived at the hotel by bus at 11 a.m. The hotel was wonderful and clean, and the food they offer was delicious. My family really liked the traditional typical dishes of Granada, in particular the dish named Baella. During the holiday, I met some of my Spanish colleagues and they invited us to visit their house which is located in a nice village in the city suburb. Really, I liked this place for the large landscape, calmness, and the kind people who live in. On the fifth day of our holiday, we walked around the city and saw the old city which has been built above the mountain. So, you can see the whole city from above it. Despite the enjoyment that we have got, the negative thing about that holiday was that we spent so much money and also many friends need to buy some things from there, so I bought some souvenirs and I hope that I can keep one for myself to remind of that divine place. By and large, this holiday was great and unforgettable thanks to my Spanish friend, Gaspar, who provided me with a Guidebook which makes my trip easy and coy.

My last holiday was four days on São Miguel dos Milagres with my family. We stay on the beach house of my grandpa. There is a pool, and four rooms in that. There we go to the beach, to some interesting restaurants, to a beach clube and to an ice cream shop. I love that travel and i'd love go back to São Miguel dos Milagres.

On the first weekend in March, we took an amazing trip to Barcelona. We went by train from Atocha station and the journey lasted two and a half hours.

When we arrived at the historic Barcelona Sants station, we took the metro to Plaza de Tetuan, which is where we had the apartment. We left our baggage and went to visit the city centre, Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya, La Boqueria Market, Paseo de Gracia, etc. On Sunday, we saw the beautiful Sagrada Familia which is my favourite landmark. Later, we went to the incredible Nou Camp stadium to see the Barça game against Valencia. After the game we visited the official store and did some shopping but everything was very expensive. On Monday, before returning to Madrid we went back to the Nou Camp to take a guided tour of the trophy room, changing rooms, benches, and the VIP box.

At the end, we went to the apartment to take the suitcases and so, we took the metro to the Sants station where we boarded the high speed train back to Madrid.

I go to Thailand for a camping holiday, It was fun I go caving on the first day, I see many bets are sleeping on top of the cave.(no time to finish)

Before 5 years, my sister and I went in a Euro trip. It was our first international trip together and we're beyond happy that it went well.

I planned the whole trip and to be honest I was quite nervous and anxious that something might go wrong. We visited 3 countries and 8 cities which were in our bucket list. Every place we visited has its own uniqueness; however, some cities just captivated our hearts, especially Paris, the city of light and love :).

Because we are food lovers, we tried to try as many dishes as we can. Some dishes touch our hearts before getting into our tummies, and croissant is my only example :D. I hope to visit more countries in the future with my sister and to make more memories together.

A place I have visited long before My last holiday was five days. I went with my cousin to Cappadocia in Turkey. We stayed at a cave hotel in Gorme village and it was amazing. We had a beautiful view over the all the caves. We did some touristy things too. In the first days we flown with balloon and we could see Cappadocia city. In the second days we went to the Open Museum so we could go inside the caves and to see how people lives at that time. Last days we walked about thirteen kilometers around the city and we visited the oldest castles in Cappadocia. We choose a different local restaurant every day. The food was delicious and cheap. I would like to go there again because that is a lot of things I want to see, and I recommend other people to go and see the magic city.

My last holiday was a five-day trip to Tbilisi the capital of Georgia. It was my first real holiday for last several years, usually I continue to work in my trips, but in this time I decided to not.

I went to this trip with my wife. We went by train. There was my first visit of Tbilisi but my wife was there a year before. So she knew all interesting places and sightseeings and showed me the city.

As it was my only holiday for the long time I don’t want to have a tight schedule and preferred spend it in chill way. I woke up without alarm had a breakfast slowly and then we decided where to go and what to do today.

We have visited some famous places as monument Mother of Georgia placed at the top of the mountain, some historical churches. We used old funicular to reach the top of another mountain with the amusement park. We walk a lot every day and explore almost every part of the city.

I really love restaurants in Tbilisi. We tried Italian, Japan, French and Georgian cosine. The food in Georgia is cheap and amazing!

It were five amazing days. I felt myself so relaxed and ready for new challenges at my job.

My cousins are really helpful. They love me a lot. Whenever I visit the village, they try to spend all of the time with me. They really care about me. ‘Holiday’ is such a fascinating word that catches the fancy of each one, be it she or he, everybody finds it bliss to go for a holiday. We may be from any walk of life but we quite relate to this term ‘holiday’ equally. Professional people love holidays and children pray for the same. With the odds, if the holiday is cancelled, they will be sad and grumble as a child.

Holidays are rightly known as pressure busters for the people. The normal routine of life requires a few days to relax. The holidays are always welcomed and awaited by all. Holidays give us immense peace and we cherish the memories of these well-spent days for the rest of our lives. Holidays help us in the following ways:

The students in their holidays can also include the social activities that they do with their loved ones.

We enjoy a family trip or a family excursion during these holidays.

It is to be understood that gaining money is significant for livelihood, but relaxing the mind to make it function better is also as important. Hence, for the smooth working of life, a break is certainly required.

Essay 1: Essay about Holiday with My Family

This time, in the winters, our small family planned for a holiday in the hills of Darjeeling. This was a much-needed break for the members of this family to remain quite busy in their daily scheduled life. They remain occupied in the strictly disciplined life of either work or study. My little sister and I study in grades 8 and 4, respectively, my father is a deputy manager in his reputed company, and my mother is a working lady and also a housewife. So, you can guess how our life will be in the strict realms of schedule. Thus, this time, my father and I decided on a short trip to the hills.

We started our journey on the 1st of December, 2019. On the way, we played a variety of games. The view over the hills was quite pleasant to watch. When we were on the top of the summits, we looked down at our town, which seemed like a toy town; how small that was from the top!

We clicked pretty snaps of the places, clicked pictures of us, of the local residents there, after which we went to a famous restaurant to eat our afternoon meal. We had the most delightful dumplings and noodles, which were cooked and served to us when still on steam.

As dusk dawned on us, the jungles over the hills seemed to tell us another story of spirits and supernaturals. My sister and I were quite fantasized about this view. We preferred to keep our eyes shut till we reached our destination. It was half-past 8 when we reached the hotel where we would spend the night. The hotel staff was kind people who welcomed us with great warmth. We freshened up and went downstairs to watch their cultural program. The tribes danced to the music of one of their traditional songs, which was quite amazing for us to watch. After this, dinner was served. The dinner was quite rich and they served us in a sophisticated manner. After the tiring day, we decided to call it off and went to sleep.

The next day, we went hiking in the mountains. When we reached the peak of the mountains, it was a very delightful view. We decided to camp for the rest of the day there in the hills. The scenario and being on the lap of nature were quite peaceful and serene.

After the trip, we came down to our town and normalized our lives.

This trip had ushered a sense of great peace and calmness in my mind, which was to be instilled. The memories of the trip were to remain fresh in my mind like the fresh droplets on the leaves.

Essay 2: Essay on Holiday

Holidays have joyous feelings related to them. My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love this holiday because it comes in December, which is also my birth month. There are a lot of exciting things we do during Christmas. We start making preparations for Christmas early before the month starts.

This year, my friends and I made snowmen with snow outside our houses. My dad put up all the lights in the interior and exterior of the house. It was looking really bright and pretty. My mom made a lot of food, cakes, and snacks, and ate with our family. My cousins from the US came over to spend time with us.

Our whole group of family and friends ate and talked and laughed with each other, sitting cozily near the fireplace, with the Christmas tree towering over us. I had a lot of fun. It is one of my best experiences and I hope to feel it again.

In writing about the ‘Best Holiday Experience’ Essay, I would say the best holiday I spent was on the sea beach; the sunny weather on the beach of goa was no less than a divine holiday. The best experience of this holiday came from sharing nature’s beauty and also staying at the best resort in Goa.

11 Tips for Stress-Free Family Holiday Travel This Season

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and it’s also one of the most stressful for family travel. This is especially true if you’re planning to be in airports or on the road to gather with loved ones.

The good news: Planning ahead can go a long way in easing travel woes and bringing on the joy of traveling with loved ones.

To put more ahhh and less ack! in your journey this season, here are a few tips for a stress-free family trip.

Travel on the Holiday Itself (Or Well Around It)

A parent and two children look out on the tarmac from inside an airport

Timing is everything when it comes to snagging the lowest possible airfare during the holiday season — not to mention easing your stress.

For Thanksgiving, if you can swing it, consider making a week out of a trip rather than traveling on the Wednesday and Sunday that bookend the holiday itself.

Booking holiday travel for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, whether you celebrate or not, can amount to hefty airfare savings.

Bypass Checking a Bag Whenever Possible

Not having your suitcase arrive at your destination with you is an inconvenience at any time of year. But it’s particularly bothersome during the holiday season when there are parties to attend and gifts to be delivered.

If you’re primarily traveling with adults and older kids, bypass checking your bags and put everyone in charge of their own carry-on along with a small backpack. In many cases it should be enough room for everyone to tote along what they need. If you’re traveling somewhere cold, try wearing boots and heavy jackets to the airport to save luggage space.

Consider the Timing of Flights

When it comes to planning, as well as the flights you pick, booking as early in the day as possible is always better. Always try to book the first flight of the day for holiday travel and opt for nonstop flights if you can.

At this time of year, winter weather is likely to throw a wrench into the equation, too, with the possibilities for snow and other weather delays across much of the country and world.

Taking the first flight of the day means it’s less likely you’ll be delayed since the domino effect of delays usually hasn’t kicked in yet.

Be Proactive with a Backup Plan

“Hope for the best and expect the worst” is a good travel mantra for any time of the year. But during the holiday season, more than ever, it can serve you well to have a backup plan in place before you even leave home.

Use flight apps to see where your airplane is coming from and if there are widespread delays. Tracking delays in real time — if they’re happening — can help you get ahead of the curve. It gives you the chance to make new plans before the cancellation or delay has even been officially announced (and everyone else is lining up for help).

The minute you hear a flight is heavily delayed or canceled , start looking up alternative options on your own while you wait for official help through an airline or car rental’s customer service line.

Assess the Accessibility of Family Activities

Four people, some adults, some children, walk on a snowy road in a line

Considering the mobility needs of all family members can help excursions and events run more smoothly. When planning activities, assess whether everyone who wants to participate can actually do so. And keep in mind that the suitability of an activity can depend on an individual’s interests as much as their physical abilities.

A driving tour of your destination, for example, might be better than a walking tour for your group. It’s also a good idea to call ahead to restaurants and attractions you plan to visit to request tables and ensure there’s access that will accommodate everyone equally.

Build in Plenty of Downtime

The lights, the music, the revelry: The holidays can mean a lot of stimulation — and sometimes overstimulation.

Consider the needs of everyone in your travel group by building enough downtime into your plans that there’s room to breathe and time to rest, recuperate and recharge in the midst of all the hubbub.

Plan a few hours a day for people to explore on their own, relax in the hotel room , fit in a workout or do whatever else makes them feel good.

Book an All-Inclusive Experience

Two parents and two children embrace in a pool

Family travel inherently comes with a ton of moving parts. Consider an all-inclusive resort where your meals — and even some entertainment — are often incorporated into the rates.

That makes it easy to take the pressure off when deciding where to eat each night and who’s cooking, leaving more time for the hang-out-and-enjoy part of being together over the holidays.

Assign Everyone a Role for the Trip

Maybe one family member is in charge of travel documents and passports while another’s responsibility is making sure all of the suitcases have arrived in a hotel room or are loaded into the car.

Delegating responsibilities — no matter how major or minor — to each person in your group goes a long way toward making your trip a true group endeavor. It can be empowering for kids, too, to be in charge of researching and booking outings and restaurants, so don’t be afraid to hand them the reins.

Plus, sharing the load can take some of the planning stress off of you, which will be much appreciated as you wind up for holiday travel as a family .

Let Kids Bring Their Own Entertainment

Putting kids in charge of their own fun can put more joy in the journey for everyone.

Let kids build and carry their own travel entertainment kits filled with books, their personal screens (if they use them), markers, removable stickers for the car and airplane windows, and other things they’ve chosen to help while away the hours in transit. They can even pack their own snacks. (Just make sure the snacks adhere to airport security policy if you’re flying.)

It’s also a good idea to download entertainment onto your devices before you lose internet access — or have to pay for it.

Make the Experience the Gift

Three people snowboard and ski down a snowy mountain

For many families, much of the stress around the holiday season stems from the obligation of gift-giving.

If your family can handle bucking tradition, propose making a group decision to skip the physical presents and make the experience of your travels together the gift this year.

After all, the presence of everyone getting together in person is the real gift of the season.

Pack Your Patience

This last one is easy to forget but vital to bring along. Being flexible and not flying off the handle can be a game-changer when family holiday travels get stressful .

Try to remember you’re not the only one who finds travel trying at this time of year. Pack your patience and sense of humor, and always treat people with the same amount of respect and kindness you’d want to receive yourself — during the season of giving and always.

Holidays are the most joyous time for every student. Let’s relive the joy through this short paragraph:

Everyone loves holidays, whether they are for one day or one month! Students especially look forward to their annual school vacation. They love that they don’t need to get up early for school and can get extra sleep hours. It’s a healthy break from a routine. Kids plan so many things for their holidays; some want to spend it with their cousins in their grandparent’s or relatives’ house. Some plan for a family holiday where they visit and explore new places. It is also a good time to learn new things or pursue new hobbies. Holidays are magical days full of fun and enjoyment.

Routine life is boring, especially for kids. Holiday is the magic word that gives them a break from their school routine. Whether it’s a short break or the annual holidays, every student eagerly waits for them. Holidays are the time when they can sleep late, wake up late and spend hours playing. Parents won’t rush them to complete homework. Nor would their parents stop them from playing extra hours. Some kids even invite their friends for sleepovers or movie nights. Most kids don’t get enough time to learn new sports or hobbies during school days. So, the holidays are the perfect time to learn how to play the guitar or go swimming or even join that reading club. Most families plan a get-together during long holidays. It is the time to visit new places and enjoy yourself with family. Holidays give us a break from everyday life to relax and rejuvenate.

Here is a long holiday essay for class 3 students. Kids can read and learn from it to write a long essay on holidays for their school assignments.

One thing that never fails to make us smile is the word holiday. Whether we are young or old, we all look forward to holidays. They are the perfect time to relax and take a break from our daily routine. Our days of leisure, are the most important and memorable days of our lives. Let’s understand how important are holidays and ways to enjoy them the most.

Importance of Holiday For Students And Working People

Everyone loves holidays. However, they hold a different level of importance for different people. For students, holidays are the time when they can do extra things apart from their studies. In their daily school lives, students don’t get much time to pursue their hobbies or interests. During holidays, they can explore a new interest or get themselves enrolled to learn new sports. Trying new things is important for a kid’s overall development. Kids also get more time to spend with their families and friends. So, holidays give them the perfect opportunity to do things they cannot do during school days.

Working people equally love holidays as young kids. Their long working hours and hectic lifestyle don’t leave them much time to relax or enjoy their hobbies. So, during the holidays, they relax and rejuvenate. They sleep in late, wake up late and enjoy the whole day with the family. During holidays, they can go on trips with family or friends to rejuvenate.

How To Make The Most Of Your Holidays

To fully utilise the holidays, one should list what they want to do or don’t get to do on their normal days. It could be spending time with friends, learning a new hobby, or sleeping late. Then, as per the time and number of days, start ticking things off the list. A new hobby or sport can be learned if you have long holidays. Holiday Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

A student’s life revolves around homework, exam preparation and tests. So basically studies, studies and more studies. We go to school then go to the coaching centre and then study at home. There is hardly any time for other activities especially in the higher classes. Sundays come as a respite but mostly there is some or the other test scheduled for Monday so we cannot escape studies even for a single day in a week.

My Fond Memories of My Summer Holidays

Summer holidays are the best time of the year for every student. We plan a family trip during our summer vacations every year. Our family trip is the best part of these holidays and I always look forward to it. Most of the times the four of us that is my father, mother, brother and I go on these trips but many times my cousins also join us. These trips are always full of fun. Last year, we went to Ooty and Mysore for six days. Both the places were spectacular.

Ooty was particularly awesome. These places encompass many beautiful gardens and marvellous edifices. We went for sight-seeing, had scrumptious food and spent quality time with each other. It was a great experience. It was one of the best family trips we had every gone for. It was also the longest one. We often plan holidays only for 2-3 days but this one was for 6 days and was thus more fun. I cherish the days spent there. These are my fondest memories of my summer holidays.

Holidays are a good time to take a break from the routine. It is the time to indulge in our hobbies, meet our old friends and extended family members. However, we must not let our studies take a back seat during this time. We must devote some time to studies even during our holidays.

Holiday Essay 3 (400 words)

Holidays are a time to be with the family and friends. It is also the time to indulge in our favourite sport or pursue our hobbies. We make numerous plans for our holidays but most of them are not fulfilled. One of the main reasons for this is procrastination. We want to do a lot during our holidays but usually get lazy and vile away the time only to regret at the end of the holidays.

Ways to Make the Most of Your Holidays?

Here are a few ways to make the most of your holidays to get back to work with fresh mind.

  • Don’t Leave Your Work

Holiday is not a time to take a break from your studies or work in fact it is the time to improvise on these things. If you leave your work or study during your holidays (especially during long vacations) you will find it very difficult to get back with it as you resume your office/ school. This will create dissatisfaction and you will yearn for another holiday to set things right. So why not keep things managed during your break and get back to work with confidence and enthusiasm.

Now, don’t over indulge in your work. Just squeeze in an hour or two each day for the same so that you stay in touch.

  • Follow Your Hobby/ Interest

It is a good idea to join a hobby class. Indulge in anything of your choice such as dancing, swimming, yoga, painting, sketching or music. Take-up a short course for a week or 10 days depending on the number of holidays you have.

  • Meet Friends and Relatives

Socializing is very important. We don’t get enough time to visit our friends and relatives due to our hectic routine. But we can certainly do so during our holidays. So take out time to meet them.

  • Go on a Trip

Go for a trip with your family or friends to take a break from your routine life. Trips are refreshing. I always make it a point to go for one trip each during my summer and winter holidays.

  • Spend Time with Your Family

Most importantly, spend time with your family. Family always comes first! So, you must spend quality time with each of your family members. Spend time with your grandparents, parents and siblings to strengthen your bond.

Holidays are a great time to bond with family and friends. It is also a time to follow your interests and rejuvenate yourself. So, make the most of this time.

Holiday Essay 4 (500 words)

Holidays hold immense importance in a person’s life. Be it a student, a working professional or a businessman – everyone wants a break from their work. Holidays provide this much awaited break. They are also important for many other reasons.

Importance of Holidays for Students

Holidays are a time when we can finally take a break from our otherwise hectic routine and follow our hobbies and interests. I always make it a point to join a hobby course during holidays. I love art and craft and thus join different art and craft classes to hone my skills in the same. Last year, I joined glass painting classes, prior to that I joined pottery classes and this year I am planning to learn the art of candle making. My friends also join different classes as per their interest. Some of them join dance classes, others join vocal/ instrumental music while yet others join sports such as skating, swimming and basket ball.

Holidays are also a time when we can socialize with friends and relatives and spend time with our family. I love family outings. We plan at least one family trip during summer vacations. I am also allowed to go over to my friends place to spend the day every once in a while. I also love the time when my cousins come over to stay at my place. Those days are particularly the best part of the summer vacations.

Most importantly, holidays are a time when we can relax and understand how to improve our skills to perform better in our exams as well as other activities. I make sure that I set aside at least 2-3 hours a day to study during the vacations. This helps me keep pace with my studies as I join back.

Importance of Holidays for Working People

Working professionals and businessmen also yearn for holidays. But they do not get long vacations like the school and college going kids. However, whatever little break they get they must make the most of it by indulging in the activity of their choice.

Working professionals mostly have long working hours these days. Many people even require working after they get back home from their work place. This hectic professional life often takes a toll on their personal life. They are hardly able to spend any time with their family members and this result in conflicts and strained relationships. Holidays give them an opportunity to spend time with their family to strengthen the bond. It is a good idea to plan a family vacation. Socializing is also very important and this can also be done during holidays as the hectic work routine does not allow any room for it during the regular days. It is a good time to meet one’s friends and relatives. Holidays are also a time to relax and focus on one’s physical as well as mental health.

Holidays are important as they help in maintaining a balance between our personal and professional life. We must spend them wisely to make the most of them.

Holiday Essay 5 (600 words)

Holidays are the best time of the year. I always look forward to my summer holidays as these are the longest holidays we students get during the year. I mostly spend them with my family and extended family. My parents also allow me to go on a few outings with friends as a reward if I study and behave well during the holidays.

My First Holiday with School Friends

Until 5 th grade my parents did not allow me to go for school trips but as I entered my 6 th grade I got this chance. My school had organized a three day trip to Shimla during the summer vacations. Many of my friends filled the consent to go for the trip. I wanted to go to but feared that my parents would not agree. At first, I thought there was no point even asking because their answer would only be no but my friends insisted I should.

I still remember how I hesitantly handed over the consent form for the trip to my father and began telling him about the details of the trip. I also told him that many of my classmates are going for it and that I also wanted to go. Initially, he refused as he felt I was too young to go out without their supervision. It took me around 2 days to convince my mother to allow me to go for the trip and she in turn convinced my father for the same. I was finally glad and super excited about the trip. I promised them that I will not talk to strangers, always move with the group and be careful with everything during the trip.

We travelled from Delhi to Kalka in train and then took a bus to reach Shimla. We reached our hotel in the afternoon. The first day we went to the mall road. The weather was pleasant and the place was amazing. I had been to various hill stations earlier as well but this place had something very refreshing about it. The company of friends made it all the more amazing. We roam around on the mall road and had planned to have dinner in a restaurant on our way back to the hotel but could not resist the smell of freshly steamed momos. They were super delicious and we ate so many of them that there was no room for dinner.

The next day we went to the Jakhu temple. The road to the temple was quite steep and we encountered hundreds of langoors on our way. It was a bit scary but exciting at the same time. The temple is set at a very serene place and we loved sitting in peace for some time. On our way back we decided to trek down the road and the experience was amazing. In the evening we visited the church and spent time on the mall road again. On the third day of our trip our teachers allowed us to go for shopping. We went to the Tibetan market to buy some really cool stuff. I bought scarves, hair clips and a jacket for myself. I also bought souvenirs for my siblings and friends.

The time finally came when we had to bid goodbye to the beautiful mountains and valley view of Shimla. We took the night bus straight for Delhi and reached home safely.

I had been on many family trips before this and loved them but the joy and excitement of going on trips with friends is something different. Since then I have been on many trips with my friends but I can never forget the wonderful moments spent on my first trip with them.
